Fioricet is a non narcotic pain reliever, formulated for the relief of pain related to muscle contracture. Fioricet is particularly suited for this type of pain, containing a sedative, butalbital, which helps the affected muscles relax, acetaminophen, an analgesic for the direct relief of pain, and caffeine to restrict blood flow, enhancing the effectiveness of the analgesic.
Cluster headaches are an example of pain associated with muscle contracture, among other factors. Fioricet has provided relief to some patients that suffer the extreme pain of these severe headaches. Often, if taken in the early stages of a Cluster headache attack, Fioricet can prevent the escalation of symptoms.
Migraines have been successfully treated in some patients with Fioricet, most effectively when taken on the first appearance of symptoms. Migraines attacks are often foreshadowed by increased light sensitivity, nausea, and a variety of other symptoms, appearing before the actual pain of the headache begins. While no remedy is successful in every migraine sufferer, a significant percentage of patients have seen an approaching attack averted with the use of Fioricet when these warning signs appear.
Another malady that is often treated successfully with Fioricet is the tension or stress headache. These are the most common source of chronic headache pain in adults, and are often the cause of very intense pain. The approach of this type of headache is often heralded by increasing stiffness and pain in the neck, shoulders, and upper back area, symptoms that can persist after the actual headache pain has begun. The unique combination of sedative and pain relief ingredients in Fioricet has proven very effective for the treatment of tension headache pain.
While Fioricet is most frequently prescribed for the most severe forms of headache pain, it has been used to treat a number of other conditions. Widely available from the local pharmacy or the online retailer, Fioricet can offer pain relief quite effectively in many circumstances, eliminating the need to resort to more powerful narcotic remedies.
