PHILADELPHIA, June 17.--- Efforts are being made by physicians in the Hahnemann Hospital to save the life of Charles A. Brice, a wealthy commission merchant of 4547 Sansom Street, who swallowed a bichloride of mercury tablet in mistake for quinine last night.

Brice took a tablet from a medicine closet in his home a swallowed it when riding in his automobile at Delaware Avenue and Market Street. He fell unconscious to the floor, and the chauffeur took him to the hospital. The first report of the case as an attempt at suicide was set right to-day.
