The Good Friday Ride
In this photo at the Pilot Hill, Ca. first group stop, just off Hwy.49 Gold Country
road, this vintage 60's or early 70's Triumph Bonneville 650 or 750 next to a late model BMW, represents one of three early classics on the ride. The other two are a modified 80's Yamaha 500 thumper single , which had a really bullet proof engine and pulled hard, and a late 70's or early 80's Yamaha 650 vertical twin with nice flames on tank and side covers. Check out picture(1\3). This bike had
extremely good handling in it's day and of course is still at least good for today. I know a friend named Dennis who has one very similar to this and has been on many Good Friday Rides passing me in corners (more skilled rider) on my 850 Norton Commando Interstate so it definitely had the power and suspension to compete with any British bikes of the day in those years. I have taken the Norton at least four times on the ride and it has never let me down , accept for a little oil leakage from left front fork tube, primary
case, and transmission kick start lever , heh, heh.
