Frequently Asked Questions About This Dog

Chopper comes from Majestic Knights Shilohs

What's up with his left ear? Why doesn't it stand up?

Chopper just has a weak left ear. We tried various methods to make it stand up, but none of them worked. The breed standard for Shiloh Shepherds is that the ears should be erect, like a German Shepherd. I don't really care though, because I wanted a good family companion, anyway, and the weak ear is not important in that respect.

If you are considering the idea of breeding your Shiloh Shepherd female with Chopper, it should only be done with females with strong ears.

Is he an indoor or an outdoor dog?
Chopper lives indoors. He has a very high need for human companionship and follows me from room to room. He would not be happy if he were left outside. Luckily, he has a very mellow personality so he doesn't do a lot of jumping and running around inside.

Does he like to play ball?
Chopper does not play much at all. He is just too mellow to play much. If I throw a ball somewhere, Chopper figures I wanted it over there. He doesn't have any interest in games at all. He doesn't even play tug. He will chase rabbits if he sees one and I am not close by. But, if I am close by, he won't leave my side even to chase a rabbit.
