Choppers fur is unique in a number of ways. It is short, like a regular short-haired German Shepherd, but it isn't as stiff as the fur on a typical German Shepherd. Neither is it big and fluffy like the plush coat Shiloh Shepherds, or the Malamute, which was used to create the Shiloh Shepherd breed.

It also has a strange natural iridescence that makes his fur tend to "sparkle" in the sun. His fur is so shiny that it is actually reflective. I have had people walk clear across mall parking lots because they wanted to get a look at the "sparkling dog".

The effect gets even more dramatic when I use some dog shampoos that are specifically designed to enhance the beauty of black dogs.
