When using both prescription drugs and herbs, you should be aware of the possible side effects that might ensue. Some drug herbal interactions pretty much cancel the effects of either ingredient out. To prevent wastage of both your drugs and your herbs, you should at least have a passing knowledge of how they work, both singly and with each other.
These days, people are buying herbs for a variety of reasons. Whether it is to improve memory or to fight depression, there seems to be an herb that will fit your need. To find the herbal drug that is best for you, you must visit an herbalist – they are experts in this field. Fortunately, the use of herbs is now catching on, with millions of Americans turning more and more to this long-forgotten medicinal field.
Once you have your herbal drugs, however, you should be careful about taking them together with your prescription drugs. Again, unless you know exactly that you are doing, this process can be harmful to your health. Drug herbal interactions can be very deadly. Drug herbal reactions are also quite common. Using both herbs and prescription drugs may lessen the potency of both, or even cancel their effects completely. Obviously, this is not something that you want.
If you plan to take herbal remedies along with your more traditional medicine, be sure to tell your doctor. A lot of people find this step difficult to do. After all, most doctors don’t believe in this stuff, and no one wants to be ridiculed by their doctor. However, you must get over this awkwardness if you plan to use herbal drugs. Your life and the life of your loved ones may depend on it, so you really shouldn’t let something like that stop you.
If your doctor has a negative reaction to the herbal remedy, step back and assess the situation. Ask for more details regarding his opinion. Is he aware of any negative effects caused by the drug? Are there any cases where the herbal drug has caused harm? If there are, revisit your decision to take herbs. Otherwise, the drug herbal reactions you suffer from might be counterproductive.
